Sergio Perez’s first Race Chassis
We are delighted to offer Sergio Perez’s first ever Formula One race chassis, this 2011 Sauber chassis number 11.C30-01. Offered as a static car only. Presently in 2012 livery, if required the livery can be reverted back to it’s original 2011 Australian Grand Prix.
Qualifying 13th for Australian Grand Prix, Sergio had a hydraulics issue in second practice which hindered his time of the soft tyres. This in turn affected his chances of reaching the final part of qualifying to decide the top ten. James Key (Chief Designer) was quoted as saying ‘Sergio was excellent, considering that this was his very first F1 qualifying’.
Sergio went on to finish his first ever race in 7th place with his team mate one place behind him, doing so with only one pit stop whilst all other teams did a minimum of a two stop race. Sergio said after the race ‘This race I will never forget in my life. I am very proud of my team. The strategy has worked, and it was a nice surprise that the tyres have lasted so long. I would like to thank everyone, especially in Mexico, who helped me get into Formula One’.
Unfortunately this fantastic start to Sergio’s Formula One career was to end in disqualification for him and the Sauber team with a technical infringement to the upper rear wing. He also used the car in the Malaysia Grand Pix but retired from the race. Sergio had continued success throughout his first season scoring points in five further races. Pushing the Sauber team to 7th in the Constructors Championship that year.
The chassis was also used for eight further races during the season by Sergio’s team mate Kamui Kobayashi with points scoring finishes in the British, German, Abu Dhabi and Brazilian Grand Prix’s.
