1985 Toleman TG185

We have the pleasure of offering this stunningly original Toleman TG185 chassis 05. Underneath the unrestored paintwork, is the powerful Hart 415 T four cylinder turbo charged engine, which in period produced 740bhp in qualifying spec running boost at 2.5 bar.

When the car was first launched the team had no second driver, no sponsors and even more concerning no tyres! At the launch a young Stefan Johansson was sat in the car but by the time the car took part in its first Grand Prix, his place has been taken by Teo Fabi. Fabi would be later joined from the 10th round of the championship by fellow Italian Piercarlo Ghinzani, with Fabi famously taking pole position at the new Nurburgring circuit. Unfortunately he wasn’t able to take advantage of this excellent starting position as a slipping clutch caused him to have a poor start dropping him to tenth and by lap 29 retirement.

This car has been mechanically restored to the highest standard with no expense sparred on any aspect of it. The engine has been built up from a new block and head by the highly experienced and well know Geoff Page . The bodywork is the only thing that hasn’t been touched, so leaving the car looking as it was at the end of the 1985 season.

The car was recently run at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the expert hands of FOS regular Lorina McLaughlin with great success!

Representing an excellent investment opportunity, this is one of the last cars produced by Ted Tolemans famous little team in full running order.
